-Cooking At Home

For Home Economics I’ve decided to make something simple, sugar cookies. Sugar cookies are very easy to make and don't have a lot of confusing steps or ingredients. The ingredients include:
2 ¾ cups of all purpose flour
1 teaspoon of baking soda
½ teaspoon of baking powder
1 cup of softened butter
1 egg
1 ½ cups of white sugar
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract (optional, it won’t change the taste)

The steps are very simple and straightforward.

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C)

In a small bowl, stir together flour, baking soda and baking powder. Set aside

In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in egg and vanilla, (if used)

Gradually blend in the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough is formed. Roll rounded balls of dough onto ungreased cookie sheets (or baking paper)

Bake for 8-10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden brown. Let stand for a few minutes before carefully transferring to a wire rack

Serve and enjoy :)

I forgot to take pictures in between.

  1. Hi Hayley!

These sugar cookies sound delicious, I like easy recipes that are simple to follow! I would have loved to see photos of how yours turned out. Did you decide to decorate or put icing or toppings on? I like to make cookies like this for Christmas and give them as presents to others!

    Thanks for sharing your work!

    1. Hello Miss Birtch, Thank you for commenting. I didn't put any toppings on because they were very sweet, (Also because we couldn't go out to get vanilla extract to make the icing) but my family enjoyed them how they were. I quite like your thoughtfulness to others. What did you bake last year? Are you going to do it again this Christmas? Thanks again for commenting!
